Hazard has once again disappointed. The Belgian, who surprisingly started the match after two weeks out because of COVID-19, did very little at the Estadio de la Ceramica.
You cannot say it was an opportunity missed, but Eden Hazard was not up to standard in the match against Villarreal.
The Belgian hardly did anything of note in attack for Real Madrid. The game ended 1-1.
He has been off colour in the past as well although there is an excuse this time. He had not trained for two weeks because of COVID-19 so it was surprising Zidane decided to start him.
You could tell that Hazard was not 100% fit. He had several chances to go forward, but he decided to sit back.
The Belgian showed signs of his undoubted quality, but he was very average when it came to going towards Asenjo’s goal.
In the second half, Zidane replaced him with Vinicius who did next to nothing in attack and Real Madrid were once again poor away from home.
Despite the fact ‘Zizou’ shows lots of faith in Hazard, it seems like Hazard needs a bit more time to get back after his injury and virus.
Both Real and Belgium, who count on him for the Euros, hope he becomes 100% physically. That can only be achieved by playing regularly and with a detailled training plan.
For one reason or another, Eden has been unable to play regularly this season. He has made just the four appearances and scored one goal.
Both Real Madrid and the player hope the Belgian’s terrible luck with injuries and then the virus soon ends.
