Barcelona Have More Official Titles Than Real Madrid putting them ahead as their rivalry would hopefully resume in a new season.

Real Madrid lifted another La Liga trophy on Thursday to make it an impressive 34 league titles. But, how do both teams compare in total trophies won?

Real Madrid have amassed 119 trophy wins, in regional, national, continental and global competitions. Barcelona, on the other hand, have gathered 130 titles over their history.

The debate over which is the most decorated club in Spanish football continues. While Real Madrid dominate in main competitions, with 34 leagues and 11 European Cups, Barcelona have a higher number of total trophies. The Catalans can also boast the fact that they have lifted defunct trophies which their bitter rivals will never be able to.

Regional titles

Barcelona have won more in their own region with 33 titles. having won 23 Catalonian Championships between 1901 and 1938, and 10 Catalonian Cups (8 Cups and 2 Super Cups) between 1991 and 2014. Real Madrid (23) are lagging behind regionally, with 18 Championships of Madrid and 5 Mancomunado Trophies, all of which came between 1904 and 1936.

National titles

At a national level, Barcelona also have more trophies. The Catalans have won a total of 74 titles in Spain, ten more than rivals Real who have lifted 65 throughout their history. Barcelona have fewer league titles than the ‘Blancos’, but nobody has more Copa del Rey trophies than they do.

26 La Liga and 30 Copa del Rey titles can be seen in the Camp Nou’s trophy cabinet, as well as 12 Spanish Super Cups, 2 League Cups and 1 Copa Eva Duarte. Real Madrid have lifted 34 leagues, 19 Cups, 11 Spanish Super Cups, 1 League Cup and 1 Copa Eva Duarte.

Continental titles

Unsurprisingly considering their recent domination across the continent, Real Madrid come out on top in this aspect. Los Blancos gained their 21st European honour after winning their 13th European Cup in Kiev. Barcelona have 19 European titles, having won 5 European Cups (1 European Cup and 4 Champions Leagues), 4 Cup Winners’ Cups, 5 European Super Cups, 3 Fairs Cups (forerunner of the UEFA Cup), and 2 Latin Cups (which laid the ground for the European Cup).

Real Madrid’s European Cup record is a source of pride for the club, with 13 under their belt (6 European Cups and 7 Champions Leagues), 2 UEFA Cups (forerunner of the Europa League), 4 European Super Cups and, like Barcelona, 2 Latin Cups.

World titles

In this section, Real Madrid more than double the number of trophies won by Barcelona, who have only lifted 4 international cups. Madrid have won 10.

The Catalans have won 3 Club World Cups, dwarfed by Real Madrid’s 4 Club World Cups, 1 Ibero-American Cup, 3 Intercontinental Cups and 2 Small World Cups.

Both clubs can boast impressive achievements throughout their history. Some choose to focus on the quantity of titles while others prefer to fixate on the quality and prestige of the competition.
