Before the official photo, the Real Madrid squad met on Thursday at Valdebebas to motivate themselves and strengthen Zinedine Zidane after the defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk.

‘AS’ say that Sergio Ramos took the lead and rallied the group asking for unity.

There was a crisis meeting at Real Madrid on Thursday. Los Blancos depend on themselves, but they can’t slip up against Borussia Mönchengladbach. A defeat would mean Real Madrid’s first ever elimination from the Champions League group stages.

First thing in the morning they had the official photo for the 2020-21 season, which meant Florentino Pérez was there. In passing, the Real Madrid president also greeted and was able to chat briefly with Zinedine Zidane and Sergio Ramos.

But before it, ‘AS’ say that the players met to rally round one another and strengthen the position of their manager. They did so with the nucleus of the team, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric and Marcelo, at the head.

The aforementioned media says that it was Sergio Ramos, the captain, who took the lead and asked his teammates for “a plus at the end of the year”. Within his rallying, he demanded unity and more attitude from the team.

“We are one win away from the Champions League, we depend on ourselves and we have to give everything. This is Real Madrid, gentlemen: together, we have come out of worse”, Ramos reportedly said to his teammates.

Luka Modric also spoke, usually low profile.

“We have to be united and win the next matches, we can do it”, the Croat said in a meeting where Zidane wasn’t present, although he was informed of it and knows that the team supports him.
