The Egypt international could be seen on CCTV stepping in before giving £100 to a stunned David Craig.

The Liverpool star swiftly moved to calm a potential confrontation at a petrol station near Anfield following the Reds’ 3-1 victory over Arsenal last month.

“Mo was every bit as wonderful as he is for Liverpool on the pitch,” Mr Craig is quoted as saying by the Sun.

“He heard what a group of lads were saying to me, then turned to them and said, ‘That could be you in a few years’.

“I only knew I wasn’t hallucinating when Mo incredibly handed me £100. What a complete legend.”

But Salah then had a conversation with the men before making a trip to the cash machine to support Mr Craig.

The former labourer, 50, hailed Salah as “a real-life hero” for his intervention and help.

The player has started the season in sizzling form for Jurgen Klopp’s side, scoring five goals in five games.

After international duty with Egypt this week, Salah will be back in action with the Reds in the most highly-anticipated Merseyside derby for years.

Salah scored twice last weekend but could not stop a humiliating 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa for the Premier League champions.
