Exclusive Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi club set to welcome Luis Suarez as 14th member.
Luis Suarez could leave Lionel Messi and Barcelona for a transfer move to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus – a move which would see him become just the 14th player to play with both superstars
Luis Suarez is reportedly closing in on a move to Juventus – and that would see him join an exclusive club.
Reports in Spain have claimed Suarez has agreed a two-year deal with the Turin based club as they look to thrash out terms to secure his signature from Barcelona.
Late interest in Olivier Giroud as an alternative has cast some doubt but Suarez is believed to be surplus to requirements as part of Barcelona’s overhaul.
If the move is completed, then Suarez will go from playing alongside Lionel Messi to lining up with Cristiano Ronaldo – and become just the 14th player to call both all-time greats team-mates.
The Uruguayan would also become just the third player to play alongside both at club level rather than being an international team-mate.
Here’s a run-down of the 13 players already in the rare club.
Fernando Gago
Messi’s Argentinian team-mate spent three years with Ronaldo at Real Madrid.
Gabriel Heinze
Heinze and Ronaldo played together at Manchester United for three years, whilst the defender won a number of Argentina caps alongside Messi.
Gerard Pique
Came through the ranks at United with Ronaldo before returning to Barcelona and being a mainstay in the side with Messi.
Andre Gomes
Everton star Andre Gomes counts Ronaldo as his international team-mate.
But he was also Messi’s team-mate during his stint at Barcelona as he graduated to the first-team from the academy before moving to pastures new.
Angel Di Maria
Arguably the most successful playing alongside the pair, Di Maria formed part of a stunning attack with Ronaldo as Real Madrd won the 2014 Champions League.
He has also been a key part of Argentina’s side and is closing in on 100 caps.
Carlos Tevez
Carlos Tevez was part of a feared Manchester United attack alongside Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
He also reached two Copa America finals on the international stage alongside Messi.
Paulo Dybala
Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus initially spelt a tough time for Paulo Dybala.
But Messi’s international team-mate flourished alongside Ronaldo this season to secure their second straight Serie A title together.
Gonzalo Higuain
Another of Messi’s international team-mates, Gonzalo Higuain has been playing alongside Ronaldo at Juventus.
He looks set for an exit as Suarez arrives, however, with a move to Inter Miami expected.
Henrik Larsson
Henrik Larsson had brief stints with Messi and Ronaldo.
The former Celtic striker won the Champions League alongside a young Messi at Barcelona in 2006 before a 13-game loan stint at Old Trafford with Ronaldo the following year.
Nelson Semedo
Full-back Nelson Semedo has recently lifted silverware alongside both Messi and Ronaldo.
After winning two LaLiga titles with Barcelona, he was part of Portugal’s Nations League winning side last year.
Ezequiel Garay
Another Argentinian who played with Ronaldo at Real Madrid, the defender reached the World Cup final with Messi in 2014.
Deco
Deco was one of Barcelona’s stars when Messi rose through the ranks, as well as being a key man for Portugal before Ronaldo took up the reigns as their star man.
Martin Caceres
The latest member of the club, Martin Caceres won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2009 as Messi’s side beat Ronaldo’s Manchester United.
He returned to Juventus for a third spell on loan last January to become Ronaldo’s team-mate, playing nine games before a permanent move to Fiorentina.
