Caroline Rose – Superstar [Album Download]

Caroline Rose just shares her new album, “Superstar.” Available for download and streaming, Rose lists 11 songs on her sophomore album. The album is a follow up to her 2018 album LONER. According to a press release, Rose began working on Superstar with the challenge to “make something from nothing.”

The alternative music album was also inspired by the movies The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant, Mulholland Drive, and Drop Dead Gorgeous. The record follows a protagonist who leaves their life behind to pursue fame. Rose explains:

To me, there’s both humor and horror in hubris and what it takes in order to be successful. I wanted to make a story out of those parts of myself that I find largely undesirable and embarrassing, then inject them with steroids.

Rose’s sophomore album reads like a novel, with a layered story of luck, fate, self-love, obstacles and the relentless pursuit of things you want in life. The album is heart-warmingly straightforward and honest in its lyricism with no attempt at being unnecessarily complex for the sake of it; smartly made with a finite tale to tell. Superstar, despite its name suggesting the idea of an unreachable idol, ultimately it’s simply about a human being chasing their dreams.
