Drake – So Far Gone (full mixtape)
Drake finally releases his 2009 mixtape So Far Gone on streaming services. Announcing the release on Instagram, he thanked various participants for their part in the record. To Kanye, he wrote, “Even though you stay wildin on twitter these days I will never forget what you contributed to the game and my career.” (Drake used Kanye’s “Say You Will” beat on mixtape track “Say What’s Real.”) He also thanked Lil Wayne for giving him “the biggest blessing anybody has ever given me.” Read all the dedications below.
I will never forget anybody involved in this journey even if you don’t fit in this caption,” Drake said Wednesday in a post shouting out Lil Wayne, Future the Prince, Boi-1da, Ben Baller, and more. Drake also set aside his recent G.O.O.D. Music differences to include “Say What’s Real” crafter Kanye West in his 10th anniversary message. The instaclassic So Far Gone cut, of course, sees the 808s & Heartbreak disciple laying his own vocals over West’s incredible “Say You Will” beat.
Drake’s tape, like West’s 808s before it, undeniably marked the beginning of a new era and ultimately inspired a generation of artists to experiment even further with the sounds utilized to perfection here. The So Far Gone anniversary is made even more poignant by the current status of Drake’s relationship with West, not to mention the fact that both he and Boi-1da took home Grammys over the weekend.
Back in December, Kanye reignited his beef with Drake after receiving a message asking for “Say You Will” sample clearance. At the time, Ye said he was blocking the request.
Last week, Drake picked up Best Rap Song at the 2019 Grammys for Scorpion track “God’s Plan.”
