Beck drops a new song titled Super Cool featuring The Lonely Island and Robyn. Beck’s new single is a track exclusively recorded for the end credits of The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.
Released today (Feb. 6), the electro-pop track has the collaborators harmonizing to the feel-good song. “Unbelievable, super cool, outrageous and amazing/Phenomenal, fantastic so incredible/ Woohoo,” they sing on the fast-paced chorus, keeping with the saccharine theme that prevails in the series’ music.
On the record, list off synonyms for “super cool” — “unbelievable,” “outrageous,” “amazing,” “phenomenal,” “fantastic” and “so incredible” among them were sung out on the song’s indelible chorus. “We gotta bring both sides together like champagne and leather,” Beck and Robyn duet over a silky-smooth funk line before giving way to a Beastie Boys parody par excellence from The Lonely Island — something of a “Lazy Sunday” sequel that finds them rapping about how great post-film credits are.
The track, available now across all platforms, is the main song for The Lego Movie 2, the kid-friendly animated follow up to 2014’s The Lego Movie, hitting theaters this Friday (Feb. 8).
