Chelsea v Mancity (0-2) FA Community Shield (All Goals and Highlights) [05/08/2018]

FA Cup winners Chelsea and champions Manchester City meet at Wembley as English Premier League season kicks off with the Community Shield match. It significantly marks the official unveiling of new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri – and his signing of Jorginho. Former Napoli boss Sarri replaced Antonio Conte in the Stamford Bridge dugout last month.

He is attempting to introduce an attacking style of play and could handed a debut to summer signing Jorginho. Pep Guardiola will be eager for his City side to continue where they left off. The Sky Blues became the first Premier League side to break the 100-point barrier as they swept all aside them last term.

Despite the Community Shield being derided by some supporters, Guardiola is eager to claim victory.

“I don’t like the feeling to lose games,” he said. “That simple fear to lose a games make you hungry.”

The match started off lively wuth both trams showcasing exquisite passing and for the first 10 mins, both teams looked well matched. In the 13th minute of the game, Aguero scored the first goal of the match which in turn is his200th Manchester City goal.
Chelsea’s defence opens up rather worryingly for Sarri, Phil Foden finds Sergio Aguero 18 yards out, and he slams a left-foot shot underneath Caballero! Far too easy.

Both teams went into the break at halftime with Chelsea boss Sarri having more of the talk to his players.

Second half resumes and Chelsea seemed to want to take the game to Manchester city but the Premier league champions put on an impressive show of pressing, passing and awareness on the offesnive front. Kyle Walker’s pace bales out City a couple of times as Chelsea go a little more direct but, at the other end, the counter-attacks are mounting up. The next one batters down the Chelsea door, and this time Sergio Aguero makes no mistake after Bernardo Silva slips him in. GOAL!!! Manchester City are up by 2 goals. Chelsea need to step up.

Willian is on for Hudson-Odoi, and Cesc Fabregas has made way for Danny Drinkwater. With these two on, Sarri is expecting a response from his Chelsea players. Riyad Mahrez is take. off for Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus. Pep isn’t backing down. He wants more goals as he always has and we can see that this season will be another goal galore. Tammy Abraham comes in for Alvaro Morata as the Spanish striker has made no impact in the game.

Willian tries to dribble into the box but gets bodychecked by Laporte. No foul. Bernardo silva picks another control out of the air after Bravo gets crowded by Chelsea players. Bernardo has to be one of the outstanding players so far in their match up. Aguero latches into a good floated cross but his volley went wide. Manchester City pressing and mounting pressure. Foden played a really good game for a player with his experience in the first team and has picked up an injury. Pep wastes no time calling unto the bench for a replacement. Brahim Diaz steps in for Foden. Manchester City still lead 2 goals to nothing.

Chelsea brings in Nigerian winger, Victor Moses for Pedro who has also not been a factor. Manchester City change Sergio Aguero for Vincent Kompany. Aguero may have just wrapped up the match. Manchester city keep up with their sublime passing and intricate through balls. It has been a good game for Manchester City.

Gabriel Jesus makes a run into the Chelsea box and holds off his defender to hit a venomous shot but it’s straight at Caballero. The Chelsea fans began leaving the pitch early. Could this be another poor season? It’s too early to tell but from the looks of it, Chelsea FC and it’s new manager Sarri have a lot of work to do and a lot of convincing.

Ayemeric Laporte comes off for Nicolas Otamendi and Manchester City have John Stones playing in the midfield. Amazing stuff from Pep. Ross Barkley races down the right, Abraham is screaming for the ball in the middle, Bravo gets there first, Moses comes steaming in, the ball is bundled wide. Chelsea make one late change Claudi Gomes comes on for John Stones.

Sergio Aguero announced man of the match with his two goals. Manchester City won their first silverware of the 2018/2019 season. What a way to start for Manchester city and a disappointment for Chelsea fans who may have expected a better showing from their team.
