Skepta and Wizkid link up for a new song titled “Bad Energy.” Where “Pure Water” was more in keeping with grime tradition, “Bad Energy” skews toward the afrobeat side of the spectrum, a claim bolstered by the added presence of Nigerian sensation WizKid.
The instrumental is tailor-made for the summertime, driven by an up-tempo, bouncy percussion arrangement. Over a laid-back chord progression, Skepta flexes with minimal effort, rapping “breakfast in bed on the plane, I could never complain, I was walking with the limp had the cane.”
After all, one can never truly reach pimp status without a)eating lobster and shrimp or b)walking with a limp. Don’t question the formula.
