Kyle is here with a new album titled “Light Of Mine.”
Ahead of the release of his highly-anticipated debut album, Light of Mine, Kyle released the audio and video for his Kehlani-assisted single, “Playinwitme.”
Kyle’s first major label album, Light of Mine, is set to release on May 18, which coincides with the rapper’s 25th birthday. Following the album’s announcement, Kyle hopped on Instagram to thank his fans for their support.
“I’m so happy to finally have announced my album. It’s been so hard to keep you all waiting on this,” he wrote. “I’ve spent the last two years working on this to make it something of true value that will last you a lifetime, and carry you through your toughest times, and elevate your brightest moments.”
In December 2016, he struck gold. With no lofty expectations, KYLE released “iSpy” onto Soundcloud. The song’s first few seconds are riddled with a playful, mildly inspirational exchange between KYLE and Lil Yachty before upbeat keys and heavy kick drums take precedence. The song has garnered over 200 million streams, topped Billboard’s rap chart, and was certified platinum within just four months of its release. Not bad for a self-described “throwaway” song.
The music video shoot for “iSpy” accomplished that goal. While on a beach with models abound, KYLE reveled in his scenery. Although he is growing accustomed to frequent braggadocios moments, he hasn’t lost sight of his true persona.
While a tracklist for his Light Of Mine project yet to be revealed, expect to hear some new music from the Cali rapper when he heads out on the road with Logic and NF for The Bobby Tarantino Vs. Everybody Tour.
The 33-date trek kicks off on June 8 in Boston, before the rappers make stops Atlanta, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Ohio; Toronto, Indianapolis, Ind.; Seattle, Salt Lake City, Utah; Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Houston. The tour is scheduled to wrap up on Aug. 3 in St. Louis, Mo.
