Lil Jon Builds a Second School in Ghana

After opening a kindergarten school in Ghana back in October, Lil Jon is now working with Pencils of Promise again to help open a second primary school.

The Crunk Juice hitmaker and the organization broke ground last month in the eastern region of the African country to begin the construction of Mafi Atitekpo DA Primary School. According to CNN, the second school will reportedly enroll 313 children and will be located in the Mafi Atitekpo village. The new primary school follows in the footsteps of Abomayaw D.A. Kindergarten, which opened up in October 2017.

Previously, Lil Jon donated $70,000 to help two schools open after a visit to Ghana last year. He was inspired to help the children of the country after witnessing their school conditions, which he says included students sitting outside under a mango tree during classes. In the past, children also attended school in sheds.

The Pencils of Promise program was launched by Adam Braun—the brother of music manager Scooter Braun—to help children around the world receive a quality education. They have helped build over 400 schools since 2009.
