A photograph of a man sporting a Ray Rice Halloween costume posted on the popular site Reddit has sparked controversy and criticism.
The photograph shows an unidentified male wearing Rice’s #27 jersey, holding a black blowup doll by the hair. The costume is a reference to Ray Rice’s now infamous domestic assault of his then fiancée in the elevator of an Atlantic City casino. Rice was suspended for two games from the NFL after the incident; after full video of the assault leaked, however, he was suspended indefinitely and cut by the Baltimore Ravens. The couple married shortly after the incident; as part of a plea agreement, Rice received no jail time.

Ray Rice is currently in the process of appealing his indefinite suspension.
