Oliver Kahn has denied that Bayern Munich has any interest in Sergio Ramos.
Former Bayern keeper Oliver Kahn, now part of the club’s board, has denied that the German side are interested in Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
He admitted that he would have liked to play alongside him, but that Bayern have no plans to sign him in the future.
Sergio Ramos’ future is up in the air. His Real Madrid contract expires in June 2021 and there has not been any progress made on a possible new deal.
Doubts over his future have put Ramos on the agenda of many European clubs, but not the only one. In Germany, there is speculation of Ramos going to Bayern.
Oliver Kahn, member of Bayern’s board, talked to ‘Bild’. He decided to make it clear that nobody in the club had even considered the possiblity of Ramos arriving.
“As a player, I’d have loved to play with Ramos. Rumours over his signing for Bayern? There’s nothing to those,” Kahn said.
On the other hand, he admitted that there had been talks with Upamecano. “He has showed the quality he has got. It’s understandable everyone wants him. Of course he interests us,” he said. Sporting director Salihamdizic had already confirmed Bayern’s interest in the player.
He also referred to Boateng’s potential renewal. His contract expires this summer: “I think we owe him a lot. It doesn’t need to be said that we will discuss it as soon as possible. We’ll find a solution.”
Lastly, he said he was calm about Flick and his long term project at Bayern: “He’s got a contract with us until 2023. He’s coaching the most successful club, he can win another title soon. You can’t have more than that,” Kahn concluded.
