Michelle Pfeiffer Reveals Her Reason For Passing on 'Silence of the Lambs' Role

Michelle Pfeiffer has Revealed Her Reason For Passing on ‘Silence of the Lambs’ Role.

The 62-year-old actress, who will next appear as Betty Ford in First Ladies and in the third Ant-Man film, shared that she thought the movie was “too evil”.

Michelle Pfeiffer is recalling the reason why she passed on starring as Clarice Sterling in the iconic movie, The Silence of the Lambs.

“With Silence of the Lambs, I was trepidatious,” Michelle explained in her profile with The New Yorker. “There was such evil in that film.”

She did reveal that there was a regret with not taking the role, but not what you might think.

“The thing I most regret is missing the opportunity to do another film with Jonathan [Demme, director].

It was that evil won in the end, that at the end of that film evil ruled out. I was uncomfortable with that ending. I didn’t want to put that out into the world.”

Michelle and Jonathan had previously worked on 1988′s Married to the Mob together.

The stars of Silence of the Lambs – Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster – just recently reunited for the 30th anniversary of the film.
