Del Rey uploaded an a cappella cover of the song on Instagram last night (3 November), writing, “For the new documentary about Liverpool x”
“When you walk through the storm/ Hold your head up high/ And don’t be afraid of the dark/ At the end of a storm/ There’s a golden sky/ And the sweet silver song of lark,” Del Rey sings in a clear, powerful voice in the grainy, weathered-looking visual that debuted Tuesday night (Nov. 3). “Walk on, walk on/ With hope in your heart/ And you’ll never walk alone/ You’ll never walk alone.”
Sharing a black and white video clip of the new a-capella version of You’ll Never Walk Alone, which you can watch at the top of this article, she wrote: “You’ll never walk alone- acapella. For the new documentary about Liverpool.”
The song was originally featured in the 1945 musical Carousel, and later became Liverpool Football Club’s anthem after being released as a single by local group Gerry and the Pacemakers in 1963.
LDR’s recent single, “Let Me Love You Like a Woman” is the first single from her upcoming album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club, which was delayed from a Sept. 5 release until early January.
