Mary J. Blige releases a new song titled Know. Available for download and streaming, the song was produced by Sounwave and co-written by Blige alongside the likes of Chi Coney and Blue June.
Over the beat, Mary J. Blige reminisces on the hardships and hurdles she’s had to overcome – that women en masse have to overcome – and celebrates their collective survival.
Sounwave provides Mary with a soulful flip to tell her story as she details the struggles she came through in order to shine. “They just don’t know / How many times I lost / Just so I could win,” she sings on the chorus. “They just don’t know / How many times I died / Just to live again.” She backs up these claims with talks of her struggles on the verses, including how heavy the burden of her life can be. But still she rises — and she still looks good while doing it. “My snapback’s real / Still thick in these jeans / I ain’t missing no meals.”
Blige has been making headlines with all the bags she’s been securing. She recently landed a top secret role in 50 Cent’s Power spin-off. The latter news came shortly after she banked her third MAC Cosmetics deal and an exclusive first-look television deal with Lionsgate.
Blige has still three films in the works, including Body Cam, The Violent Heart, and Dreamworks’ Trolls World Tour.
