Marc E. Bassy drops off a new single entitled Die Hard. Available for download and streaming, “Die Hard” follows “Save Me,” Bassy’s debut on the label last month and his first release since 2018’s Postmodern Depression EP.
The song reflects Bassy’s personal journey of breaking away from his major-label deal with Republic Records in 2018 in order to make way for his own endeavor with New Gold Medal.
The label was formed by Bassy along with his manager, Robert “Fess” Stewart, and his team. “Being an artist at Republic was a great experience. My team there was incredible, they fully supported me the whole way and helped to jump start my career as a solo artist,” Bassy tells Billboard. “After a few years there, I decided it was time to go down a new path and take ownership of the music. Soon after, I did something I’ve always wanted to do and launched my own independent label New Gold Medal.”
In 2016, Bassy released his debut album, Gossip Columns, under the Republic imprint. It included features from high-profile artists like YG, Kehlani, frequent collaborator G-Eazy, and more. The San Fransisco-native recently embarked a 35-city tour with Jon Bellion.
I was high when you called me
But you still don’t never let me go
You come runnin’ in a heartbeat
I’m hundred miles out the door
