Spotify Introduces It’s Own Version Of Instagram Stories Called Storyline

Spotify introduced its own style of the popular “Stories” feature on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and other photo and video-sharing platforms. But unlike on those apps, where users will share visuals in a sequence that last for just 24 hours, on Spotify artists will use the tool to share additional background for their music or creative process and will stay up for as long as they like.

The new function called Storyline is available on Spotify’s iOS and Android apps, but not on desktop. It pops up as songs play, not unlike the Spotify and Genius partnership “Behind the Lyrics.” (In fact, Storyline appears on top of Behind the Lyrics.)

Depending on what the artists and labels have decided to include, each Storyline frame can include lyrics, images or text. For users who do were selected for the beta version, there will be an icon at the bottom of the app screen that they can swipe up to access Storyline. Frames scroll automatically after six seconds.

Spotify’s Storyline is in the testing phase.
