Skepta – Wish You Were Here (mp3 download)
Skepta released a new song called “Wish You Were Here,” and the lyrics seem to be aimed squarely at Wiley. The pair have some beef after Skepta collaborated with Dizzee Rascal on ‘Money Right’ last year. Wiley called Skepta and Dizzee “frauds”, saying that they’ll “never beat me at my own game, ever.”
“Came to squash beef but you weren’t there / Came to your party, you weren’t there / Came to your house but you weren’t there” Skepta raps over a classic grime beat. Something tells me Wiley is more likely to make the time to respond to this rather than talk it out.
After Skepta poked fun at Wiley’s infamous tradition of not turning up to events he’s booked for, including his own birthday rave recently, the Godfather addressed the situation on Twitter. Directly calling out Skepta, Wiley tweeted, ‘@Skepta We both gonna see is who is the real junior. no fencing’ before he later added, ‘@Skepta Today my brother I bring you back down to earth.Once and for all.’
But Skepta wasn’t the only artist Wiley was upset with after ‘Wish You Were Here’ was released, with Skepta’s good friend Drake taking his turn in the firing line. Aiming a jibe at the Canadian rapper, Wiley tweeted, ‘@Drake is my g but this is his fault he keeps putting batteries in people’s backs #mybro’.
