The Streets drops a new single titled “Call Me In The Morning featuring Chip and Grim Sickers. I’m planning a mixtape during 2019, as well as getting back into the swing of festivals, Skinner mentioned after Q on his plans to submit “Call Me In The Morning” on the 22nd, or the 21st if you’re on the right side of the time differential. Skinner isn’t letting up in ’19, as he plans to round out the year by wrapping up a film project he kept under wraps for five long years, while on hiatus between 2011 and 2017. Mike Skinner, colloquially known to fans in the UK as “The Streets” for the better part of two decades now, is in the midst of a new project – that’s exactly what he told Q magazine (recovered by NME), after revealing his plans to offload a single with grime rappers Chip and Grim Sickers.
“I’m going to make my film, release my album,” he promised Q Magazine. “After that we’re going to buy the West End off Andrew Lloyd Webber.” For those who recall hearing “The Streets” by name but can’t put their finger on it, Mike Skinner made a name for himself in the industry as a UK garage producer, in cahoots with Craig David and The Artful Dodgers to name a few. The moniker stuck with him well into adulthood.
Quotable Lyrics:
Listen up little man, they call me big Chip man
North London man, I have fun with it man
Penthouse suite, you just stepped on man
Pon the river, pon the bank
Big animal, no elephant man.
