By song three, the overstated heartstrings have come and gone, paving the way for fiery Crime Mob comeback record. With his recruitment of Crime Mob and other characters faithful to the Ear Drummer’s tag, Mike WiLL effectively stole the spirit of the Rocky series from the steps of the Art Museum, and brought it to Atlanta.
Mike WiLL Made-It’s handling of the Creed II soundtrack checks all the boxes you’d want from a modern boxing score. There are moments on the record where Mike WiLL adheres to the screenwriter’s narrative flow, there are even moments where he embraces a symphonic approach, but none of that is present on “We Can Hit (Round 1).”
Crime Mob’s performance on “We Can Hit (Round 1)” perfectly emulates the behavior of a boxer searching for a knockout punch out of desperation. Down on the cards, Crime Mob, and even Slim Jxmmi rise to the case occasion in the middle rounds. What’s your take?
Quotable Lyrics:
Yeah, I’m still a ghetto, pistol holdin’, but I got them hands
Knock the fuck up out a n***a, meet me where you fuckin’ stand
B*tch please, I’m like Creed, don’t I make a n***a bleed?
Any day, catch a fade, and have you leakin’ in the street.
