You can find him in either St. Louis or Chicago, presumably watching select scenes of The Lion King. Now, Smino has returned to the fold with a new single called “L.M.F,” and rest assured the man is in peak form. Taking to an atmospheric, yet up-tempo instrumental,Smino employs a variety of engaging flows, beginning with the lyrically dense chorus. “Said she Rafiki, you a lion, Mufasa,” he raps, “Baby ain’t nothing ’bout me PG, rated X for extraordinary.”
Eventually, the drums kick in, and Smino switches it up accordingly. With a melodic cadence reminiscent of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Smino paints a vivid picture of an intimate night in. Given his sheer animation, however, the tone is far from dull. Vivid imagery and family friendly references meet grown-man hedonism as he all but bounces off the walls. It’s an impressive display, and a promising indication of Smino’s upcoming musical direction.
