Kendrick Lamar – Alright (OG).
Kendrick Lamar is on our platform with an OG version of Alright. “Alright” is a song by American rapper Kendrick Lamar, taken from his third album To Pimp a Butterfly (2015). Lyrically a festive song about hope, it features uncredited vocals from the song’s co-producer Pharrell Williams during the chorus. “Alright” was released to radio stations as the album’s fourth single on June 30, 2015.
Most music publications considered it among the best songs and videos of the year, highlighting their message in the social context of the time. “Alright” received four nominations at the 58th Grammy Awards: Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song, winning the latter two.
The Compton MC was honored with Lyricist of the Year award at the ceremony, which took place on Oct. 6 in Miami and was aired tonight (Oct. 16) on BET. This makes it the sixth consecutive year that he’s been given the high regard. The last person to be awarded the honor was Lil Wayne in 2011.
Kendrick Lamar, the first rapper to win the Pulitzer for music, visited with the Lakers at their team facility on Friday as part of their “Genius Series.” General manager Rob Pelinka started it last year when the team invited some of the most successful people in different industries to talk to the team throughout the season.
