Lebron James Signs With Los Angeles Lakers For $153 Million Dollar Deal.
LeBron James is now officially a Los Angeles Laker. The biggest free agent acquisition the Lakers have had in years — maybe ever — signed his contract at one of his homes in Brentwood on Monday afternoon. The contract is worth $153.3 million over four years and includes a player option for the fourth year.
Lakers’ GM, Rob Pelinka met with James at what looks to be his home out in Los Angeles to sign the contract and make things official. “This is a historic moment for the Lakers, and we could not feel more grateful and honored,” Pelinka said. “When LeBron James – a perennial NBA MVP and champion who is playing at the most astonishing levels of his career – chooses to join the Lakers, it serves as the ultimate validation for what we are building here. However, we all know that the work is not yet done. We will continue forward and do all that is necessary to achieve our shared obsession of bringing banner No. 17 to the world’s best fans – Lakers Nation.”
With James now a proud member of the second-winningest franchise in NBA history, the Lakers have restored their status as a legitimate title contender. James’ arrival comes after the Lakers failing to reach the postseason in any of the past five seasons. The team finished with a 35-47 record in the 2017-18 campaign, thus extending their streak of losing seasons to five as well.
