Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff premiered their new EDM-inspired song “Get Lit” during this year’s Livewire Festival in the UK and now they officially release the song to digital retailers.

Back in August, DJ Jazzy Jeff decided to debut an unreleased song from Will Smith in front of nearly 20,000 people at the Livewire Music Festival called “Get Lit.” While nothing ever came of this record since then, the former Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air decided to change all that today as he officially releases the heavy EDM-infused record on iTunes & streaming platforms.

“Been messing around in the studio and wanted to try this new track on the fans in Croatia and U.K.…. no plans, no pressure… just back to basics with DJ Jazzy Jeff! Here’s ‘Get Lit,’” the singer-actor said when he first debuted the song. “I wanted to make a record that reminded each and every one of y’all to let your light shine,” he added.

Rather than giving us some old classic hip hop like the two did in the 90’s, Will & Jazzy are trying to keep up with the times and deliver an EDM record that’s filled with positivity and wholesome vibes. While the record is seeing mixed reviews, you can’t argue that seeing Will Smith back working is good for the culture. In fact, Will says he has more where this comes from as he currently has about 30 newly recorded songs. “Six or seven that I really, really like, that I’m trying to get the ideas to come out right” – in the works. “I’m shaking the rust off, knocking the dust off,” he said.

“Get Lit” marks the first release from Smith musically since his Lost and Found album in 2005. No word yet as for where this will end up, but hopefully there’s a comeback album in the works. I guess time will only tell though.

Stream “Get Lit” via Apple Music or download your own copy on iTunes now.
