EarthGang, recently announced Robots, their second EP of the year. The first project, Rags, featured guest appearances from J.I.D. and Mick Jenkins, and found the duo exploring some new sonic and thematic territory. In fact, EarthGang seems dedicated to continuing to challenge their creativity, as evidenced by a new statement from Doctur Dot – “The project is just the next step of an overall creative experiment we’re trying…If rags was u closing ur eyes to meditate then robots is that deep breath you take.” With that in mind, dive into the futuristic sounds of Earthgang’s latest single, the title track “Robots.”
As the title might suggest, “Robots” is a little bit of a stylistic departure for the group, but that doesn’t stop Dot and Venus from continuing to deliver high-end lyricism and flow. In the track’s accompanying caption, Dot elaborates on why he this track is so important to him, and reveals a deep emotional connection with the song’s concept. “This record will always have a special place in my heart,” he explains. “The instrumental played so well with a concept i was working in my head before i even heard it. All this rap shit really is just selling emotions. This is the most exciting way we could sell feeling numb.”
