The Walking Dead Season premiere was a chillingly cold yet explosive one in which two main characters died — Abraham and Glenn.
After bashing their heads in with a baseball bat, Jeffery Dean Morgan’s Negan took Rick Grimes for a trip to further break his spirit. After almost forcing Rick to chop off his son Carl’s hand, Negan finally decided to ease up, and let the group go about their business. Tonight’s episode, “The Well”, will pick up from there. Will Rick really become the tamed dog that Negan wants him to be?
Will Maggie begin seeking revenge for his dead husband?
We’ll also get to catch up with Carol and Morgan, who are about to embark on a fascinating journey of their own. As Morgan explains to Carol in the sneak peek of episode two above,“The people here, they call this place the Kingdom.” It is ruled by King Ezekiel (Khary Payton), a man never seen without his pet tiger Shiva by his side. Indeed, Morgan characterises him as “someone who does his own thing.” Expect to see more of the Kingdom clan in this sophomore episode as Carol comes to understand where she is. As Morgan tells her, “They’ve been helping you, so I’ve been helping them.”
Meanwhile, Rick tells his followers that he is no longer their leader. “Let me put this to all of you as clearly as I can, I’m not in charge anymore – Negan is.” What will that mean to those just learning of the murders of Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and then Glenn (Steven Yeun) by Negan? How will they react to Rick ceding his authority to this killer? Will they rise up only to be struck down by Negan?
