Meek Mill drops new song Slippin featuring Future & Dave East. Future comes through with a reggae-inflected hook, which dances nimbly over Beat Bully’s cinematic sample (a nod to DMX’s 1998 single of the same name). Meek comes through with an emotional delivery, but one that’s no less aggressive than what we hear on the more knocking tracks on the project. After that, Harlem’s Dave East keeps up with Meek, bringing some vivid imagery and understated storytelling to the table.
Hurt my heart when I seen
My closest homie caught the vapors
Gotta watch ’em closely, backstabbers they poke me
Shot me, brought me down on my knees
Tried to Derrick Rose me
Won ’em a ring, still did me like I was Kobe
Talked down on me when they thought that I slipped
You niggas crazy if you thought I would quit, no!
