Gary Neville names three Liverpool players 'not good enough' for first team

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has named the three Liverpool players he does not think are good enough to play for the Reds.

Bitter rivals United and Liverpool played out a 0-0 draw in a crunch top of the table clash over the weekend.

Due to numerous injuries in his ranks, Jurgen Klopp was forced to field something of a makeshift team with no recognised centre-halves, meaning usual-winger Xherdan Shaqiri started in midfield.

Meanwhile, with the front three struggling to fire, Klopp’s only throw of the dice was to bring on Divock Origi for Roberto Firmino as his only striker on the bench.

Both Shaqiri and Origi are seen as Klopp’s best reserve attacking options for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah with Diogo Jota currently out injured.

But Neville insists that the calibre of those players, along with Takumi Minamino who has struggled heavily since joining the club 12 months ago, is just not good enough for a side as good as Liverpool.

“To me I feel like it’s under control at Liverpool. They’ve played non-stop for three years and the fourth year is always the burn out year,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“For three years they’ve been unbelievable. This year we’ve seen a dip and that’s natural.

“He could potentially give them a rest, but they don’t get a rest.
