Eddie Van Halen’s death has been confirmed and the cause of it revealed.
The musician died on October 6th, 2020 at the age of 65 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
His death was met with widespread grief as the influence of Van Halen’s guitar playing and songwriting suddenly shined brighter than before. A guitar impresario, Van Halen will be forever remembered as one of the first guitar heroes of the eighties.
TMZ have obtained Van Halen’s death certificate and confirmed that the legendary guitarist died from a stroke. Though that was the immediate cause of death, Van Halen had several underlying health concerns at the time including myelodysplastic syndrome, which is a bone marrow disorder, lung cancer and pneumonia.
The certificate went on to list a variety of significant conditions which could have contributed to his sad passing including skin cancer and an irregular heartbeat. Van Halen was cremated in a service 22 days after his death.
In a recent interview, Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie’s song, revealed that initially the guitarist was given just six weeks to live in 2017.
“Whatever the fuck they do over there, it’s amazing, because I got three more years with him,” Wolfgang said.
