Describing the album as “A castle on the hill; a poster on the wall”, Jam City positions Pillowland as an escapist dreamscape, a mythological paradise of narcotic glamour and bittersweet serotonin.

The project is the UK producer’s first full-length in five years, following 2015’s Dream A Garden. Spanning ten tracks, it covers sounds from 1972 to the present day, drawing from pop and rock. The digital release is out this Friday, with the cassette and vinyl version following in January.

The body of work follows up to Jam City’s 2015 album Dream A Garden. His Night Slugs debut, Classical Curves, dropped in 2012. Since the release of Dream A Garden Jam City has worked with Kelela on her album Take Me Apart as well as contributing to records by Fauness, Troye Sivan and Joji.

A press release describes the new album as coming after “a period of doubt, pain, confusion and change in the artist’s personal life” in which he sought “refuge in the sugar-sweet amphetamine rush of the pop dreamscape.”
