Lupita Nyong’o has penned an Emotional Chadwick Boseman Tribute. The actor passed away after battling to stage-four colon cancer. Lupita who starred alongside Boseman in The Black Panther first shares her message comes from “a place of hopelessness.”
“He set the bar high by working with a generosity of spirit, creating an ego-free environment by sheer example,” Lupita wrote. “Chadwick’s hands were strong enough to carry the weight of the film and free enough to clasp mine when I needed it. He was impeccable with his word. I never heard him complain.”
“When I was around Chadwick, I wanted to be better, less petty, more purposeful. He was fueled by love, not fear. He moved quietly, deliberately and without imposing himself or his ideals on others. And yet he also made damn sure that his life meant something. He was so unwavering about that.”
Towards the end of her message, she wrote, “He cared so deeply about humanity, about Black people, about his people. He activated our pride.” Fellow Black Panther cast members Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, and director Ryan Coogler have also shared heartfelt messages online following Boseman’s death. Jordan, Wright, Gurira and Coogler learned of Chadwick’s fight against cancer when his death was made public on behalf of his family on August 28.
