It serves as the follow up to 2016’s Here. It is preceded by the singles “Show Me Love”, and “Underdog.”, The album is also proceeded by three album cuts “Time Machine”, “Good Job” and “Perfect Way to Die”. The album was originally scheduled to release on March 20, 2020, then May 15, before being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“#ALICIA The Album 3/20,” Keys wrote on Instagram alongside what appears to be the project’s colorful cover art, which features the singer-songwriter photographed from four different angles against peach, purple and turquoise backdrops.

Keys mentioned the title in an interview with Billboard in December 2019, saying that working on the album and her memoir was “the best therapy I ever had”. She formally announced the album on January 20, 2020, posting the cover art to her social media accounts.

Keys will released her new memoir More Myself: A Journey on March 31. “I’ve been loving getting to know all the sides of me over the years. And now here I am fully ALICIA,” she said. “The journey we will take together through the music and then in another way through my book More Myself. I see them as companion pieces. A way to go even deeper into the conversation of identity together.”
