We Are Who We Are, the first TV series from Oscar-nominated director Luca Guadagnino, is set to air in the UK on BBC Three.

The eight-part series tells the story of two American teens living on a US military base in Italy, exploring friendships, first love and identity.

Jack Dylan Grazer, who previously starred in the film adaptation of It, takes the central role of 14-year-old Fraser, who relocates from New York to a military base in Veneto with his parents, played by Chloe Sevigny and Alice Braga.

Newcomer Jordan Kristine Seamón plays the more confident Caitlin, who has grown up on the base with her father, played by rapper Kid Cudi.

Francesca Scorsese, the 18-year-old daughter of legendary director Martin Scorsese, will take her first major acting role in the series, which was selected as part of the 2020 Cannes Film Festival Directors’ Fortnight earlier this year.

“With We Are Who We Are we are attempting to portray the here and now of two families, few generations, many exciting people,” Guadagnino, who is best known for his 2018 adaptation of Call Me By Your Name starring Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer, said.

“To see the world from their perspective is what I am delighted to share with UK audiences.

“To do so thanks to the prestigious and remarkable BBC is an accomplishment and a soothing encouragement.”

He has also confirmed that he will direct a sequel to Call Me By Your Name.
