Zinedine Zidane annoyed about talks of Referee controversy after a VAR penalty review which saw Real Madrid get the three points away to Athletic Bilbao.

At the end of the match at San Mames, Zinedine Zidane was sick of hearing about refereeing decisions supposedly favouring his team.

“I’m tired of people saying we win because of the referees. This is not going to change, but the players deserve respect. Nobody is going to stop us reaching our goal,” the French coach said.

Zidane, who said that he had not seen the incident, just spoke about Sergio Ramos’ quality from 12 yqards. “He’s a spècialist. He stays practising them in training and it’s a positive thing for us,” he commented.

He refused to say the league was won despite the fact his team had got three points from one of their most difficult games left: “We cannot relax until it’s mathematically confirmed. We have shown our strength and solidity.

I’m not going to speak of us all having all but won the league even if you ask me every days. I’ve got a lot of experience in my career, also as a player and every match is difficult. What I’m saying is winning seven games from seven is impressive.”

“Our solidity is what I like the most,” Zidane said. “We are doing very well. We have lacked quality in attack and we can improve, but the most important thing is our defensive strength.

The Real Madrid coach also spoke about Militao’s performance: “He has had a great match. It’s true that he hasn’t played much this season. I’m happy for him because in the end all the players are switched on and when a player has to play, he plays.”
