Iggy Azalea comes through with a new song titled Boys Like You featuring VVAVES. Available for download and streaming, The Canadian singer/songwriter announced “Boys Like You” on her social media accounts and it’s shaping up to be a fuck-you anthem.
“If You always get off easy, you won’t ever learn,” Emma Rosen (her real name) sings, before hammering her point across in the chorus: “Fuck boys like you.”
“I want to set a good example for all the females listening,” VVAVES says of the collaboration. “I want them to feel empowered through the lyrics and the production, I want women to have fun and celebrate themselves.” She then clarifies the song’s message. “It’s not ‘fuck men’ or ‘fuck the industry,’ it’s ‘fuck letting yourself get treated as less than you are.’ It’s a reminder that we have the power and responsibility to speak up.
