Sunday evening marked the 2017 BET Soul Train Awards, a night in which the top acts within Soul/R&B and a little bit of Hip-Hop would get nods for their strides within the genres within the past year.
Among those on the list of nominees were SZA, Chris Brown, Cardi B, DJ Khaled, and much more. It was Solange who came into the competition with the most nominations, topping out at seven looks that included Best R&B/Soul Female Artist and Video of The Year for “Cranes in the Sky.”
Among those honored were R&B staples Toni Braxton, who was receiving the Don Cornelius Legend Award and singing group SWV, who received the Lady of Soul Award, even giving a performance that featured appearances from Method Man and U-God in a nostalgic instance.
The night proved to be one of great proportions as host Erykah Badu headed up the festivities delivering on a certain kind of presence that only she can pull off.
