Kanye West Sued by George Floyd’s Family For $250 Million. The Family of George Floyd Filed a Lawsuit against the rapper after he made comments on on Drink Champs interview. The mother of George Floyd’s daughter, Gianna, is suing Kanye for “false statements about George Floyd’s death.”
The family of George Floyd are pursuing legal action against Kanye West. Just days after he claimed that Floyd died of fentanyl use instead of suffocation, Roxie Washington, the mother of Floyd’s daughter, Gianna Floyd, filed a $2 million lawsuit against the Donda 2 artist.
According to Houston’s KPRC-TV, Floyd’s family issued a cease-and-desist letter to Ye through Witherspoon Law Group and Dixon & Dixon Attorneys at Law. In the lawsuit filed, Washington says that the artist formerly known as Kanye West made “false statements about George Floyd’s death to promote his brands, and increase marketing value and revenue for himself, his business partners, and associates.”
The news release added that Ye used “malicious falsehoods” to profit from Floyd’s 2020 death and his family’s trauma.
Although the 3-hour Drink Champs interview has been wiped from YouTube and REVOLT, clips are still available to watch on social media.
“I watched the George Floyd documentary that Candace Owens put out,” Ye said on the podcast, referring to documentary The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM. “One of the things that his two roommates said was they want a tall guy like me, and the day that he died, he said a prayer for eight minutes,” the rapper-producer said. “They hit him with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that.”
“The interests of the child are priority,” Attorney Nuru Witherspoon, partner at The Witherspoon Law Group, said. “George Floyd’s daughter is being traumatized by Kanye West’s comments and he’s creating an unsafe and unhealthy environment for her.”
