Jay-Z drops “Songs For Survival 2” Playlist
Jay-Z shares “Songs For Survival 2” playlist. The rap icon listed some of his songs, Jay Electronica, Nina Symone, James Brown, and more. He’s also got Syl Johnson’s “Is It Because I’m Black,” 2Pac‘s “Keep Ya Head Up,” Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On,” and more tracks.
In 2016, the Roc Nation mogul shared his initial “Songs for Survival” playlist following the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of police officers.
The rapper also placed full-page adverts in publications across America to honour the memory of George Floyd and support the struggle for racial justice.
The adverts reprint a passage about protest from a sermon delivered by Martin Luther King Jr in Selma, Alabama, on March 8 1965, the day after civil rights demonstrators were attacked, teargassed and beaten by police on a bridge on the edge of the city.
“A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right. A man dies when he refuses to stand up for justice. A man dies when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true. So we’re going to stand.
