Kobe Bryant reportedly Killed In Helicopter Crash

NBA legend Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, Sunday morning, according to TMZ. According to TMZ when the helicopter crashed, emergency personnel responded, but all on board were killed. TMZ said Kobe’s wife, Vanessa, was not among those on board.

Kobe’s daughter Gianna Maria Onore was also on board the helicopter and died in the crash … reps for Kobe tell TMZ Sports. She was 13.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. TMZ Sports reports Kobe was traveling with three other people in his private helicopter when it crashed in Calabasas.

Around the time of the news, the crash, L.A. Times reporter Richard Winton reported that the mountains were “fogged in.”

“I heard the plane splutter and then a boom,” he tweeted.

Bryant played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 20 seasons and won five NBA championships. He is routinely called one of the greatest players to ever play in the NBA.
He finished his career as an 18-time All-Star, 15-time All-NBA team, 12-time All-NBA Defensive Team selection, two time NBA Finals MVP and the 2008 NBA MVP.

Orange County baseball coach, his wife and his daughter were identified as three of the victims in the helicopter crash as well.

John Altobelli was identified as one of the victims Sunday afternoon by Orange Coast College. In a statement from the University of Houston, where Altobelli played baseball, officials said his wife Keri and daughter Alyssa also were killed in the crash.
