Jennifer Aniston finally joined Instagram this week and it took her just 5 hours and 16 mins to reach 1 million followers and causing the popular social media platform a crash. The actress broke records—and the app itself—when she debuted her ‘Gram. Aniston first post was a Friends reunion photo, featuring the iconic sitcom’s entire lead cast.
Aniston just five hours and 16 minutes to reach the one million followers mark—a feat that took the Duke and Duchess of Sussex five hours and 45 minutes to accomplish, according to the Guinness World Records.
In addition to temporarily shutting down the site, Aniston also broke a major Instagram record, beating the Guinness World Record previously set by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Sussex Royal Instagram account for fastest user to reach one million followers.
A spokesperson for Facebook, which owns Instagram, said in a statement to CNN of the Aniston-induced crash. “We are thrilled to have this ‘Friend’ as part of the Instagram community.
The actress apologized for crashing the popular app in a post that included a clip from her upcoming Apple TV+ series, The Morning Show.
“I swear I didn’t mean to break it… Thank you guys for the kind, glitchy welcome ❤️,” she wrote, along with a clip of her Morning Show character, Alex Levy, getting frustrated and throwing her cellphone.
