American singer Chris Brown is proclaiming his innocence once again.
A week after being accused of threatening a woman with a gun, the R&B superstar tells ABC News that there’s nothing to fear on his end.
“I cannot wait till the truth comes to light about this incident and this situation,” he said in a videotaped message. “You know, because my character’s been defaced and who I am as a person and [my] integrity.”
He also thanked his fans for their ongoing support. “I’m glad all my real supporters know me, and know the truth and see the truth.”
Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on Aug. 30 after former Miss California Baylee Curran said he threatened her with a gun at his Tarzana, CA home. Brown’s camp now claims they have a text message from Curran saying she planned on setting the singer up by lying to the police.
Brown’s lawyer Mark Geragos believes Brown will be found innocent as well. “There was a search that was done,” he said. “They went in, and said they had a description of the piece of jewelry. Not found in the house. They went in, a gun, not found in the house.”
Geragos said surveillance footage also doesn’t support Curran’s claims. “There’s no Chris Brown waving a gun,” he said. “No Baylee looking at a box of jewelry.”
