Baby Cino, a 20-year-old artist from the Miami area was fatally shot just moments after being released from jail.
Starks had been arrested earlier this month in connection with carrying a concealed weapon. At approximately 2:10 p.m. last Wednesday, he was released after posting bond. Less than an hour later, per reports, he was fatally shot.
Baby Cino, the artist in question, was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County last Wednesday. Per a report from the Miami Herald, Cino—whose real name was Timothy Starks—was picked up in a red Nissan. As the vehicle turned onto the Palmetto Expressway, it was hit with multiple gunshots, with both Starks and the driver (since identified as Dante Collins Banks) being struck.
Starks was pronounced dead on the scene. Banks, meanwhile, was said in initial reports to have been airlifted to a nearby hospital. In an interview with WPLG, Banks’ mother revealed she was on the phone with her son at the time.
“My son was okay,” she told reporters. “He was talking. He was just shook up because his friend got shot.”
Initial reports added that the shooter “fired at least 40 times,” with detectives adding that a “dark-colored vehicle” had been seen leaving the scene. Complex has reached out to the Miami-Dade Police Department for additional comment and will update this post accordingly.
