‘One More Sleep’ singer Leona Lewis, is looking to adopt a child and start a family.
The ‘One More Sleep’ singer admitted her husband, Dennis Jauch who she wed in July 2019 is keen to start a family as soon as possible, but she’s still “figuring things out”, though she knows she’d like to take on the care of a child because of her mother’s own experience.
She told Stella magazine: “I do want children, but Dennis and I have also talked about adopting,’ she says. ‘My mum grew up in a children’s home. No one adopted her as a child, and I would very much like to adopt.
“But I’m still figuring things out. If it was up to my husband, we would have had kids yesterday.”
Leona and Dennis had just moved into their California ranch at the start of lockdown and she was “devastated” to be separated from her horses.
She said: “As we had just moved, we didn’t have our horses, just our dogs, and I was devastated.
“I wasn’t with my family or Dennis’s. There were a lot of tears, but lockdown gave me the chance to really focus on my music.
The 35-year-old star is hopeful she and Dennis can spend Christmas either with her parents in London or Dennis’ mother in Germany.
She said: “We take it in turns and what’s lovely about being with D’s parents is that we follow German traditions and celebrate on Christmas Eve. We just enjoy all being together.
“The mums tend to do the cooking and I’ll do table decorating. And if we are in England, I’ll see my brothers’ children and lots of cousins on Boxing Day, which is a lot of fun.
“We are trying to work out if we can all be together this year. Covid makes it so hard for families, but I just want that lovely day of cooking, singing, relaxing and being together.”
