On Tuesday (September 22), Netflix teased on Twitte that a special Father of the Bride event was coming on later this week.
In its first tweet, Netflix teased that “something is coming,” and shared a video showing the desktop of George Banks’ computer.
A Father of the Bride reunion is happening!
In the video, George (Steve Martin) receives an invitation to a family video call for Friday, September 25, as well as emails from kids Annie Banks-MacKenzie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) and Matty Banks (Kieran Culkin), son-in-law Brian MacKenzie (George Newbern), and wedding coordinator Franck Eggelhoffer (Martin Short).
Several hours later, Netflix invited fans to “Father of the Bride Part 3 (ish),” which will be directed by Nancy Meyer , who co-wrote the first two films.
Father of the Bride was released in 1991, following George Banks has he struggles to grip the reality that his 22-year-old daughter Annie would be getting married.
In 1995, a sequel was released, which followed Annie and George’s wife Ninaboth pregnant at the same time.
