SZA is back with a surprise new song released Thursday night at midnight along with a high-budget video that she directed for the track which was produced by The Neptunes and features Ty Dolla $ign.
In the visual, SZA sultrily dances with a group of other women through a car junkyard. She also sings in a field, atop a haystack and in the back of a pickup truck. Later, Ty Dolla $ign joins her in the junkyard for the Neptune-produced track.
SZA’s 2017 album CTRL was one of our favorite albums from that year, and like many people, we’ve been anxiously awaiting word on a new album ever since. She has released songs like February’s “The Other Side” with Justin Timberlake, from the Trolls World Tour soundtrack, and 2018’s “All the Stars” with Kendrick Lamar, from Black Panther.
SZA had been teasing new music for a while and publicly aired her frustrations about why her highly anticipated follow-up album was being delayed. In a since-deleted tweet from Aug. 19, the singer wrote, “At this point y’all gotta ask punch.”
“Don’t nobody need to free me. Lmao I’m not held hostage n neither is my music!! Me n Punch be disagreeing…he’s never steered me wrong and I trust God’s timing. I love y’all.”
