Manchester City Strikes Regional Sponsorship Deal With Payment Brand Laybuy.
Premier League football club Manchester City has signed up New Zealand-based payment platform Laybuy as its ‘Official Buy Now, Pay Later Partner’ in three markets.
The multi-year, regional deal is geared towards developing the brand’s market presence to businesses and consumers in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
It will be activated only in those markets and will focus, in particular, on opportunities for fans to connect with Manchester City ‘legends’.
The upcoming season will see the launch of a ‘Switch play on how you pay’ campaign linking the extension of extra time on payments to extra time on the pitch for the former City players.
Manchester City and Laybuy will also explore opportunities to integrate the Laybuy payment option into club platforms including City’s retail offering.
The Laybuy service model enables consumers and businesses to spread transaction costs into six, interest-free weekly repayments.
Stephan Cieplik, vice-president director of partnerships APAC for Manchester City, said: “Laybuy has quickly established a strong reputation in New Zealand and Australia and it is continuing to develop and grow into new markets. We’re looking forward to working with each other using our shared belief in technology and innovation to bring our partnership to life.”
Laybuy joins 15 other regional sponsors on the club roster. These are: Citibank, Nestlé, Khmer Beverages, Kaiwen, Melco, SHB, Tecate, Heineken, Power Horse, Star Beer, Healthpoint, PZ Cussons, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Intel and Cadbury.
