On this remix, Parker uses heavy vocal effects to amplify 070 Shake‘s vocals and pairs this with a muffled, trudging drum line. Employing some now trademark-swirling atmospherics, it’s an understated but fitting rework clocking in at only 3:30.
The original track is the fourth single take from Shake’s debut album ‘Modus Vivendi,’ released in January this year. It followed singles ‘Morrow’, ‘Nice To Have’ and ‘Under The Moon’.
Kevin Parker and 070 Shake have previously collaborated with Kanye West on his track ‘Violent Crimes,’ which closed his 2018 album ‘Ye.’ 070 Shake rose to fame thanks to her involvement with Kanye West‘s ‘Ghost Town’. Signed to his label, she’s garnered a loyal following thanks to her exceptional vocals and her ability to distill raw emotion into sophisticated, considered RnB.
Earlier this month, Kevin Parker reflected on the Tame Impala opus Currents in celebration of its 10-year anniversary. The musician cited super-producer Mark Ronson as the core inspiration behind his pivot to pop music.
“Mark’s a big reason why I had the confidence to do what I did with ‘Currents’,” Parker told NME. “He showed me how pop music could have such a craft to it.”
