Carl Reiner has passed away at the age of 98.
Carl Reiner Is Dead At The Age Of 98. The Hollywood actor known for his role of Saul Bloom in the movies Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen.
Younger fans may recognise him from Toy Story 4, after he voiced the character Carl Reineroceros. Carl reportedly died on Monday night at his Beverly Hills home while with his family.
His wife Estelle Lebost died in 2008. He had three children – Rob, 73, Annie, 71, and Lucas, 59. He also has six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Carl was active in the industry from 1947 until now, but was best known in the 1960s as the creator, producer, writer and actor on The Dick Van Dyke Show.
Over the years he had roles on other shows including Two and a Half Men, The Cleveland Show, American Dad, Parks and Recreation, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy and Ally McBeal. He also wrote an episode of The Cleveland Show titled Your Show of Shows.
Carl was born in The Bronx, New York in 1922 to Jewish immigrant parents. His brother Charlie told him about an acting workshop and he would eventually credit Charlie for his change in career plans.
Carl served in the Army Air Forces in World War II and achieved the rank of corporal. After the war, he started his show business days in a theatre production called Inside USA, before going on to enjoy a decades long career in acting.
Over the years, Carl has won nine Primetime Emmy Awards and a Grammy Award. He was inducted onto the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 and joined the Television Hall of Fame in 1999.
Alongside his son Rob, they became the first father and son duo to have their handprints and footprints added to concrete slabs at Grauman’s Chinese Theater.
